When you see an industry child break into Bollywood, there is always a whiff of the ‘N’ word doing the rounds. Especially when Karan Johar is involved. Ahem.
Yet, while haters gonna hate, you’ve simply got to take your hat off to a few next-generation actors out there. And this piece is dedicated to one such star who’s recently proved to one and all, that the man’s not just an actor, but truly an artist.
On the occasion of his birthday week, here’s why we’re raving about Varun Dhawan and why he’s got all the making of becoming B Town’s biggest star. But wait, isn’t he one already? 😉
To be the best you’ve got to want to be that bit more than the rest. It’s definitely more than just spending hours and hours at the gym. Apart from spending a good while amidst the iron, along with gym buddy, Kartik Aryan, Varun is always pushing himself with challenging roles when it comes to acting.
After papa Dhawan took control of his last birthday while he shot Judwaa in London, Varun spent another working birthday. This time shooting for the period drama, Kalank. Man, that’s some dedication. Koi mujhse birthday par kaam karake dikhaye. I dare you, I double dare you!
You’ve seen Varun in his element while doing romance and comedy. Just ask anyone who’s been in his company – Dhawan’s as fun-loving as anyone out there. But then there’s the other genre of films where the fight’s got a little more on the line than the most popular girl in school. No offence Alia and Ileana, you know we love you.
In films like Badlapur, Dhawan has not shied away from getting into the skin of the character. Living, breathing every moment. And then there’s his recent masterclass, ‘October’. Words will never be enough to describe the beauty of the film and the finesse with which Varun pulled off his role. Da(m)n that was a good watch!
If there was an award for the easiest job in the world, it’d go to Farah Khan in SOTY when she had to judge the annual dance contest. Sid, Alia, and the rest, you guys are awesome. But Varun is at a different level when it comes to shaking a leg.
How about dancing alongside one of the industry’s all-time greats? Well, Varun was on fire, and some would say he was even better than the veteran Prabhudeva during his performance at the recently held IPL 11 opening ceremony. That was some muqaabala, subhaanallah!
Here’s hoping Varun reaches the heights that he’s capable of. And it’d be odd to end this list with 4 D’s, right? Well, let’s just complete this piece with a famous 5th… Derriere. #SorryNotSorry
We love you VD!
