A few days ago Madame Tussaud’s tweeted about having the 32-year-old diva, Deepika Padukone turned into a gorgeous wax statue in 2019, and the twitteratis collectively applauded the star!

In fact, the hashtag #DeepikaAtTussauds has started doing the rounds.
Deepika has proven her mettle time and again with her performances in Bollywood and has now made a big hullabaloo in Hollywood too. So apart from her adorable chemistry with Ranveer Singh on the internet, we also watch the world go gaga over the Padmavat star who now has over 25 Million followers on Instagram alone!
We also know that there will be two Deepika Padukone wax statues – the first debuting at the London branch in 2019, to be followed by the unveiling of the second statue a few months later in Delhi.
So far the team of expert artists have met Deepika in London for over “200 specific measurements and photographs to create an authentic likeness”.
Which made us think about all our legends who have been turned into carved figures at Madame Tussaud’s, that ironically look NOTHING like them.
For instance, Shahrukh Khan’s statue looks like it’s an extended endorsement scheme for Fair & Handsome?
Kareena Kapoor’s statue looks like a scary version that might need an exorcism.
Amitabh Bachchan’s wax version reminds us of a serial killer.
And Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s statue looks nothing like her, plus the awkward pose makes us cringe!
These are just a few we ticked off from the top of our heads, the museum is filled with underwhelming waxed versions of… probably every single star.
So while we celebrate Deepika’s entry into this apparent hall of fame, we also dread the eye-burn we have to endure every time our favourite stars get idolised.. (quite literally) but how the wax statues never do enough justice to their charm.
FYI, next on this “awaited” list is Shahid Kapoor who revealed so just a few hours after Deepika did, on his Instagram account.
Well at least we have the internet memes and jokes to look forward to, so we’re not really complaining. 😛
