[Cue song: Yeh dosti, hum nahi todenge…]
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
“Kuch kuch hota hai, Rahul. Tum nahi samjhoge.”
Cool handshake? Check! Friendship song? Check! Friendship bands? Check! Wish on a shooting star? Check! Love? Double check!!
This movie has completed nearly two decades but its magic continues to remain fresh in all our hearts. This coming-of-age romantic movie preached, “Pyaar dosti hai.” and depicted a thin line between love and friendship. Afterall, ek ladka aur ladki kabhi dost nahi ho sakte, right?
A love triangle that challenges friendships, Karan Johar’s directorial debut – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, will stir your emotions and the SRK-Kajol chemistry will charm your senses.
Rang De Basanti
“..Joh des ke kaam na aaye woh bekaar jawaani hai.”
This thought-provoking piece of art depicts a bunch of indifferent and nonchalant youngsters who come to a greater realization in life.
There are way too many movies on friendship but this one brings forth the true nature of sacrifice and camaraderie. Starring Aamir Khan as DJ, who along with his group is a reckless youngster who refuses to grow up. Until a headstrong British woman casts them in her film based on the Indian freedom struggle.
These youngsters unconsciously and effortlessly fit their parts and mirror the youth they are impersonating. Until they face a crucial situation which forces them to make some major life decisions.
Mujhse Dosti Karoge
“Woh main nahi hu Raj, woh koi aur hai.. koi aur.”
As far as love triangles go this one brings in a new twist in the tale with letters. That’s right! Electronic letters aka emails were a new age thing back in 2002 which gave rise to a new form of friendship – online buddies!
Based on a misunderstanding created by emails, this story deep dives into a complicated saga of relationships and sacrifices. YashRaj with its promising cast comprising Rani Mukherjee, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor – brings to us a glamorous yet relatable story of friendship.
P.s: You might just want to replicate the sangeet celebration in this film, especially at your best friends wedding!
“Hamari zindagi mein na hi koi mazaa hai, na hi koi masti..”
Friends can be great and everything until they force you into doing the wrong things. Such is the tale of the notorious trio in Masti.
Marriage is somehow treated as a demon as Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani secretly hope to go back to their formal bachelorhood. Tired of the daily drama at home, they plan to have an affair but somehow end up in the middle of a dreadful murder case.
What they do next is for you to find out!
Pyaar ka Punchnama
“Agar meri life mein koi problem naa ho toh woh uske life ki sabse badi problem hai.”
Three bachelors are in a happy relationship, or so they think. Their so called “typical” girlfriends start giving them a hard time and love soon turns into a great loss!
Starring 6 debutant artists who do complete justice to their roles, this film is a rollercoaster of puns, suggestive humour and filled with silly nuances of a relationship, where apparently only the boys suffer. Isn’t the movie rightly named Pyaar Ka Punchnama?
A monologue where one of the boys exasperatedly complains about his girlfriend will leave you in hysterics – not just because his dialogue delivery is good but also because deep down you relate to every word he utters. Thus, there’s also a Part Two!
So, this Friendship Day when you want to spend some leisurely hours and watch a movie with a friend online – you can definitely look forward to these!
