Abhishek Kapoor, the producer and director of Kedarnath has allegedly filed a suit against debutant Sara Ali Khan for giving away his movie dates to Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty’s Simmba starring Ranveer Singh. For a first-timer like Sara, this must be so heartbreaking and underwhelming!
Sara Ali Khan recently signed her next film opposite Ranveer Singh and all seemed well until Kedarnath got stalled and the former’s agency gave away her dates to Simmba. This didn’t go down well with the maker of Kedarnath and he took matters to court.
What went wrong? Apparently, the filming of Kedarnath was stalled for weeks after Abhishek Kapoor’s company and former co-producer KriArj Entertainment (owned by Prernaa Arora) got into a legal tussle regarding the film’s funding. In April it was reported that Ronnie Screwvala took over as the co-producer and earlier this month it was announced that Kedarnath will release in November, a month before Simmba.

Along with Sara, her agent and talent management agency are also named in a first-of-its-kind case filed by Abhishek. The suit calls for Sara to complete her project with Kedarnath and demands Rs.5 crore as damages.
We think it would be for the best if the matter was settled in peace instead. Afterall her career and debut was in question and anyone else in her shoes would’ve taken a similar plunge. It wasn’t her fault that the shoot got stalled or the financers backed out, was it?
It’s hard luck that Sara Ali Khan has been trapped in a controversy and case prior to her first steps into the industry. What will happen next? Let’s wait and watch.
November 2018 is when Kedarnath is hitting the big screens while Simmba is planned for December 2018.
