Salman Khan may be the box office king but he never backs out from the good ol’ good deed. Bhaijaan, the charity champion voiced his plans to kickstart a theatre chain named ‘Salman Talkies’ back in 2016. A movie experience at subsidised and tax-free rates, and free of cost for underprivileged children. How wonderful!
With multiple cinemas upgrading their packages to better sound, the variety of food, comfort levels and other quality services; the prices are driven to an all new high. Recently a popular theatre chain ad promised purified air in their audis! All of this is just great. But if a movie turns out to be a downer, (like a lot of them do) it burns a hole in your pocket.
When was the last time a movie was a bang for your buck?
Salman has been vocal about the rising ticket prices. He thinks the prices should be similar to regional movie tickets. Because even though Hindi movies are the most popular, footfall still needs to rise.
‘Salman Talkies’ has thus been an awaited affair but it’s not an easy deal to crack.
While chatting with Mumbai Mirror, Salman revealed that this deal is taking longer than he’d thought.
“I had a lot of plans for the theatre chain but it’s taking me longer because I need to be very careful. There are a lot of logistical details involved so that the project doesn’t shut down. But let me clarify, the theatres will not be in Bandra or Juhu, but on the outskirts of Mumbai.”
Bhai sounds positive about this, doesn’t he? He has recently stepped into the distributor game for his Eid 2018 release – Race 3 & things look like they can only go upward from here.
Wishing sabka Bhaijaan, Salman Khan, all the luck there is for his ambitious venture!
