The ever-charming Punjabi boy, Ayushmann Khurrana has successfully wooed us with his unconventional choice of scripts and characters, but what he’s known and loved for are his miscellaneous skills that go beyond any Bollywood mandate. The man effortlessly juggles between acting, singing, playing the guitar or a piano, writing soulful poetry on Twitter, and most importantly, being a loving husband. He basically embodies that millennial word we throw around like confetti – GOALS.

Hailing from Chandigarh, the Paani da rang singer had us head over heels with his boy next door avatar in Vicky Donor. With a few ups and downs in his career, after experimenting and acing eccentric roles in movies like Dum Laga Ke Haisha as the unhappy husband, in Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan as the anxious groom, in Bareilly Ki Barfi as the mysterious lover boy, in Andhadhun as the blind pianist and in Badhaai Ho as the judgemental son, he now stands out as one of the most sought-after actors in our industry today.
But what is Ayushmann really like when he’s not creating pure magic and mayhem on the big screen? We put his statements under the spotlight and give you a sneak peek into just that.
I loved attention. I was the class clown.
Ayushmann was a sure shot entertainer since childhood and remembers his math teacher giving him flak by saying ‘Tu toh sirf naach aur gaa sakta hai, aur kuch nahi kar sakta’. We’re imagining a notorious and adorable Ayushmann mimicking dialogues and dancing on benches here. He also admits to being slapped by his grandmom and laughed at, by his then girlfriend and now wife Tahira, when he confessed about his dream acting career. But he was unstoppable!
Either you have to be a superstar or your script has to be one. So till the time I’m not a superstar, my scripts should do that job.
After the success of his debut film, he was offered big-budget potboilers and sex-comedies, but he politely declined because he takes his scripts seriously and believes that content is king. Respect.
“There is no point in playing safe because the audiences love different quirks, something that is crazy and out-of-the-box.”
Experimentation is the name of the game that Ayushmann ain’t afraid of. He looks for roles that have never been heard of or never been considered before and consciously goes for them full-throttle. And he’s right, we love surprises!
I’m the only actor/composer/lyricist/singer in the industry. I’m very happy with it.
Khurrana is confident about where he stands in the industry and has clearly created his niche. His love for many art forms gives him an edge that no other Bollywood star can flaunt. To which all we have to say is: Damn, son.
If you understand poetry then we can talk..

Oh, and he also regularly shares his own poems and poems he loves on Twitter. He once mentioned his wish to publish a book with a compilation of his poems. His inspiration comes from his mother who has a Masters in Hindi literature and his dad who loves ghazals and poetry. Well, he already penned down a book called Cracking The Code in 2015 that talks about his journey to Bollywood and beyond, we can’t wait for this one! Is there ANYTHING this man can’t do?
If I played Dad to 50 kids in my first film, what’s the harm in owning up to the fact that I’m a father of two children in real life?
Ayushmann Khurrana is a proud husband and father of two, and he flaunts his famjam on social media like no other actor his age. He’s basically comfortable in his space as an actor and as a family guy. Kudos, Khurrana!
She’s perfect. She’s made me a better human being and converted this uncouth small town guy into a gentleman. But, I still have a long way to go.
Apart from his obvious passion for cinema, Ayushmann’s love for his wife is his most endearing trait that is out there for the world to see. He never backs out from mentioning the influence his wife has had over life and career and calls her his “core”. Do they make men like these anymore? We doubt it.
Maintain your core and go with your gut. That’s about it.
Words of pure wisdom.
From the adventurous boy in Roadies to the coolest radio jockey; from the best host on television to the pioneering star of Bollywood, yours has been a rollercoaster journey that only soars high! We love you, Ayushmann Khurrana!
