If you are a fan of Gangs of Wasseypur, you won’t be disappointed with this one. Kerry on Kutton depicts a set of unconventional, rustic characters and their struggles. There are men with great curiosity and crassness, who use many cuss words to bring some excitement into their lives. While a few of them almost get there, some fail miserably. Kerry On Kutton has a promising cast with raw performances that are every bit crude in their actions, just as their character demands.
Adapted from O. Henry’s 1907 book: The Last Leaf – Lootera is a movie that will leave you in complete awe. It’s rare to watch on-screen romance that looks so gracefully realistic. You will fall in love with Ranveer Singh’s simplicity (Yes, that is possible.) and Sonakshi Sinha’s coy demeanour. With a vintage aura and beautiful music to go with the mood, this movie is sure to charm your senses.
In 2012 we saw a biopic based on Shahid Azmi, that was rather groundbreaking. Azmi was a criminal lawyer and human rights activist who strived to get justice for those wrongly convicted for terrorist activities. His two major cases, the 2006 Mumbai train bombings and the 2008 Mumbai attacks are highlighted in the film Shahid. The actor, Rajkumar Rao and director, Hansal Mehta won National Awards for the film. Need we say more?
How would Devdas be if he was born in the 21st century? The essence of the old era mixed with the craziness of the new generation makes for a heady mix that is Dev D. With Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Mahi Gill, this movie has a powerpack of talent brought together by Anurag Kashyap. This unconventional movie depicts no family status barrier, the only hindrance between Dev and his true love is he himself. And how he copes with his heartbreak is for you to find out!
This movie simply resonates what civilians go through when the country is under terrorist attack. It depicts how ordinary people feel, how they deal with their fear and how they miserably fail. A class act by Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher makes for a brilliant movie that is A Wednesday. It will surely top your list of favourite movies and satiate your inner cinephile.
